Year 2: Transmedia Show

Transmedia

Transmedia is a University of Winchester end of year exhibition organised by the second year cohort of the Digital Media Course. As a second-year student, I designed the landing page for the website, designed the visitor cards and was part of the social media team.

Transmedia is a University of Winchester end of year exhibition organised by the second year cohort of the Digital Media Course. The exhibition will showcase the work of the Digital Media, 3D and CAD students, as well as the MA Digital Media Practice & Pathways students.

The exhibition will take place on the 12th of May at the University of Winchester, West Downs Centre. I will be there showcasing my work, some of which is on this website so make sure to visit if you are in the area!

My role in Transmedia

As a second-year student, I was part of the cohort that is organizing the exhibition.

My responsibilities were to:

Design the website landing page.

Design the Transmedia Visitor Card

Social media management

Landing Page

My first task for transmedia was to design the landing page for the website. This would be a placeholder on the website domain while the final website was being developed and uploaded. I had the idea of animating the logo and having it be an introduction before revealing the main landing page. The animation was created by a 3D environment student, Roland Bako.

The landing page needed to give all the important information for the exhibition such as the date and place while also sticking to the transmedia brand guidelines that were created by Ethan Gunn last semester. Below is the breakdown of the landing page.

Transmedia Visitor Card

My next task was to design the Transmedia visitor cards. These were made to encourage visitors to visit all the sections of the Transmedia exhibition. The visitors would get a sticker for each area they visited; by the end, if they had enough stickers, they would get a gift bag with transmedia merchandise.

Since there will be 8 sections at the transmedia exhibition where the students will be presenting their work, I added space for 8 stickers on the back of the card, making sure to stick to the brand guidelines.

Social Media

My final role was being part of the social media team for the Instagram account for Transmedia. Since there were 3 team members, we decided to split up the responsibilities. I was in charge of creating the stories for Instagram. Our plan was to post student work as a way to promote their work as well as the transmedia exhibition. I designed the student spotlight stories that would feature the work of each student.

Above are the templates I made using the colours and the theme of this year’s transmedia which was breaking out by using the imagery of rips that were used in all our promotional content so far. Below are some examples of the stories once the student work was added.
